5.0 out of 5 stars A very good joystick, April 13, 2009

The Saitek ps40u is a great joystick when you need both a pc and ps3 stick. As for the pc it is very good for use in fighter type games and has lots of features. You can assign buttons action and in some games others have files already set up. Be careful not to buy the older ps33 model as it is not usable on the ps3.

Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)

I am returning this because it's utterly useless on Il-2 Sturmovik Birds of Prey. NONE of the layouts work, I tried every one on both mode 1 and 2. I have searched on forums all over google and NO ONE knows how to remap the buttons so it works properly. I tried to do it on custom.. believe me, it's a lost cause. If I can't figure it out (and the entire internet as well) then you can't either (unless you work for Sturmovik BOP and actually care enough to write a custom layout for Saitek Av8tr-03). The only way I see it working is cracking it open and re-soldering the wires to the correct buttons but then it would be useless on another game. Please don't give Saitek any more money. They will rip you off.. they know they are too otherwise they wouldn't have lowered the price.

I am disappointed because the reason I bought the Saitek Aviator was b/c I didn't like how jumpy and difficult the T-flight HOTAS was when lining up shots. The PS3 controller is the only way I can make... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Good precision, great features, January 4, 2010

This joystick is a replacement for my Logitech which was getting pretty sloppy. It feels precise, and the dual throttles with toggle-like switches are perfect for flight simulation without the bulk of a yoke/rudder pedals. More buttons wouldn't hurt, and perhaps a quad throttle setup would be even better. There's no Mac software for the "multi-function" capability, but the large red two position toggle switch can be used as another set of buttons (I use it to toggle spoilers and run full thrust reversers after landing.)
