I have a long history with Logitech products, like most longtime computer users. I'm writing this using a Logitech mouse that's simple and elegant in design, like something from Apple. Then there's this low-priced keyboard, serviceable in a good way, with a new strip of media buttons up top. If you run various audio/video applications, like me, this is a help but no reason to run out and buy the product. On my iTunes, the Logi's pause/start button had too much of a lag. Mute and volume up/down responded nicely, but they're already on my Mac keyboard. The home page and calculator buttons are excellent additions. Every keyboard should have them, especially the home button. My hands are on the big side so I am no fan of compact lightweight keyboards like the new ones from Apple. This Logi occupies a good halfway point, neither clunky nor congested. I do miss the slight clack of my old Apple keyboard -- these make a quiet little thud that's neither here nor there... Cons: On the flimsy side Cord is short and thin (easily damaged) Only one Windows key (on the left side) Noisy Media key layout could be a lot better My only real gripe about this keyboard is the lack of two Windows keys. I'm used to being able to tap the Windows key with my right thumb when I need it - and there's not a Windows key on the right side of the spacebar, only on the left. It's a bit on the loud side if you're a fast typist, but this is one of the best non-mechanical keyboards I've typed on. A lot of keyboards today shrink the insert/delete/home/end/pgup/pgdn keys to save space, which really screws with my touch typing, and gaming if you assign those keys to anything. This keyboard retains the... This keyboard is definitely the latter. I needed to replace my last keyboard because the keys were sticking and required a lot of effort to press, which slowed down both my typing and my gaming. Fortunately, the keys of the K200 are light and springy, allowing me to type and game with little effort once again. The media keys are neat and I like how the buttons are split between sound media and other miscellaneous keys, allowing for easy sound adjustment and starting/pausing of music without accidentally opening my browser or e-mail; however, all the media keys only take up about one-half of the space above the normal keys, possibly leaving room for more keys, which I kind of wish they had capitalized on. The strangest thing about it is that the PC power key (for quickly hibernating or powering off your PC) is located directly between the calculator and e-mail... Read more |
