I have been a long time user of the legendary Logitech mx518 mouse, and decided it was about time for an upgrade. After doing some browsing, I came across the CM Storm line of products. Truth be told, I found a good deal on the CM Storm Inferno first. To make a long story short, the Inferno was a cool mouse but very uncomfortable for me. Being a claw grip user, I needed something that fit my style - enter the Spawn. I ordered up one of these bad boys, returned the Inferno and the rest was history. It felt immediately comfortable for my claw/fingertip style grip, and the only thing that took a bit of getting used to was the higher DPI. When I say higher DPI, I mean the 1800 setting. I NEVER use the 3500 setting as it is just waaay too much, as on my old mx518 I would use around 1400-1500 tops. Once adapted, I immediately started noticing improvements in my game. Most notably, I used to be horrible with the "rail gun" in Quake multi-player games. If you are familiar with Quake, you know... Read more

I had been looking for a replacement for my trusted Logitech G3 for some time. Tried many mice including the popular Logitech G9, but wasn't satisfied with them. This one I'm keeping.

I use a grip that's in between a claw grip and a fingertip grip, sort of a "relaxed claw".
This mouse is perfect for that. Fingers slightly bent, with the heel of the mouse just touching the lower palm of my hand.
Just to give you an idea of the size of the mouse, my hand is about 7.75" from the tip of my middle finger to where my hand meets the wrist. My palm is about is about 4.25" long.
Using my relaxed claw grip, my fingers come to the very end of the mouse but they don't hang over the ends of the left/right buttons.
Using a normal fingertip grip (fingers almost fully extended), my middle finger does extend past the left button about 1/2".
I've read that some have needed time to adjust to the ring finger rest, but it feels completely natural to me. My ring finger... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome "Claw Grip" Mouse, August 16, 2011

If you are a "claw grip" mouse user, you will not regret buying this mouse. The ring finger "rest" took a few minutes to get used to, but is actually really nice. I think CM hit the nail on the head with this one. Hopefully more mouse manufactures will follow their lead and design mice specifically for "claw grip" users. Note that the software does not come with the product, but can be downloaded from CM website. Also, the software does not work properly with Google Chrome running.
